Dr. Emily Masnica is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at New Path Psychiatry who brings over 12 years of nursing experience and a deeply holistic perspective to her work with clients across the lifespan.

Since joining the practice in 2022, she has provided psychologically minded, patient-centered, and trauma-informed medication management rooted in the belief that every person is the expert in their own life, needs, and goals. Dr. Masnica works with clients of all ages and gender identities, drawing on extensive experience across inpatient, outpatient, emergency room, and community settings to meet people wherever they are in their mental health journey.

Her treatment philosophy is grounded in shared decision-making and a holistic view of wellness. Rather than focusing solely on medication, Dr. Masnica recognizes the important roles that exercise, healthy eating, and sleep play in a person's overall mental health, and she incorporates that broader perspective into every treatment conversation. She firmly believes in the value of therapy alongside medication management and works closely with each client's therapist whenever possible, a philosophy that aligns naturally with New Path Psychiatry's collaborative care model. Her approach ensures that clients feel heard, informed, and genuinely empowered to shape their own care.

When working with children and adolescents, Dr. Masnica brings a particular warmth and intentionality to including the whole family in the process. She considers parents and caregivers to be vital members of the treatment team and prioritizes answering every question so they feel comfortable with their child's plan. At the same time, she is skilled at connecting with young people directly, making sure their opinions and goals for their own care are validated and respected. This ability to honor both the family's concerns and the young person's voice creates a treatment experience that feels balanced and supportive for everyone involved.

Dr. Masnica earned her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Columbia University in 2021. Prior to becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner, she spent 12 years working as a registered nurse in both hospital and community settings, an experience that gave her a broad clinical foundation and deep familiarity with the full spectrum of mental health needs. This combination of advanced education and hands-on experience across diverse care environments equips her to provide thoughtful, individualized care, whether she is working with a teenager navigating anxiety for the first time or an adult managing a long-standing condition.

What draws Dr. Masnica to New Path Psychiatry is the practice's commitment to treating each person as an individual. She values the holistic, person-centered approach the practice takes to wellness and mental health, and she finds deep reward in helping her clients feel heard, find relief from their struggles, and become able to live their lives to the fullest.

  • Dr. Masnica's 12 years of nursing experience across inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and community settings gives her an unusually broad clinical foundation, allowing her to meet clients with complex histories and diverse needs with confidence and understanding.
