Amanda Lefkowitz, DNP, PMHNP, and New Path Psychiatry received the Long Island Herald's 2025 Long Island Choice Award for Best Mental Health Service/Organization.

Dr. Amanda Lefkowitz founded New Path Psychiatry to provide thoughtful, evidence-based psychiatric care that combines medication management with a deep understanding of each patient's story. She specializes in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, addiction recovery, and complex psychiatric presentations through collaborative, individualized treatment.

She works with young adults and adults to find balanced medication plans that support each person's unique goals and developmental path. Dr. Lefkowitz's approach reflects her conviction that the best outcomes happen when provider and patient make decisions together, creating a treatment experience that feels collaborative rather than prescriptive.

Her treatment philosophy centers on a patient-centered model where medication management becomes a true partnership. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, Dr. Lefkowitz works closely with each client to build a regimen that helps them feel well and feel like themselves. She views psychiatry as both an art and a science, drawing on her ability to understand the complexity of each person's experience while applying clinical expertise to select medications that align with their personal goals. This balanced methodology reflects the collaborative care model at the heart of New Path Psychiatry, where every client's voice plays an active role in shaping their treatment.

Dr. Lefkowitz brings an exceptional depth of education to her clinical work. She earned her Doctorate in Nursing Practice and Master's degree from Columbia University, and holds an additional Master's degree in Trauma, Crisis, and Stress from Tel Aviv University. Her academic foundation also includes a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Pace University and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Boston University. This multidisciplinary training gives her a broad lens through which to understand the intersection of psychological experience, trauma, and psychiatric care, equipping her to meet clients where they are with both clinical precision and genuine empathy.
