Medication Management
Psychiatric care that goes beyond just prescribing
What Is Psychiatric Medication Management?
Medication management is our core service, and it's more than writing prescriptions. It's an ongoing partnership between you, your therapist, and your psychiatric provider to find the right medications, monitor how they're working, and adjust as your needs change.
At New Path Psychiatry, we take a holistic approach. We don't just treat symptoms in isolation, we consider your whole picture: your therapy progress, your life circumstances, your goals, and how you're actually feeling day to day.
What to Expect
Your First Visit (60–90 Minutes)
Your initial evaluation is thorough. We'll discuss your history, current symptoms, medications you've tried, what's worked, what hasn't, and what your goals are. If you're seeing a therapist, we'll discuss coordinating with them. This isn't a checkbox exercise, it's a real conversation.
For children and teens, initial evaluations include dedicated time with the parent/guardian to discuss observations, school performance, and family context.
Follow-Up Visits (~30 Minutes)
Follow-ups happen monthly initially as we dial in your treatment. Once you're stable, we space visits to every 2-3 months. This varies from person to person, and we recommend whatever cadence fits your care best.
For child patients, follow-ups are approximately 30 minutes. Parents are always involved in medical decisions for their children and will have a visit or phone call afterward.
The Collaborative Model
If you're in therapy, we coordinate with your therapist. That means:
- Discussing medication responses from a therapeutic lens
- Joining therapy calls when it would help
- Never changing your treatment without talking it through with you first, and looping in your therapist when you want us to
Who We Treat
We provide medication management for adults and teens with a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including:
- Depression & treatment-resistant depression
- Anxiety disorders (generalized, social, panic)
- ADHD (adults and children)
- OCD
- Mood disorders (bipolar, cyclothymia)
- Trauma & PTSD
- Substance use & addiction
- Women's mental health (perimenopause, postpartum)
Our providers have different subspecialties. Amanda focuses on addiction and trauma, Emily specializes in teens and gender identity, and Grace provides medication management with a psychodynamic approach.
We do not provide therapy ourselves, but we work alongside your therapist so your psychiatric and therapeutic care stay connected.
