Trauma & PTSD Treatment
Healing is a journey, and you don't have to walk it alone
Understanding Trauma & PTSD
Trauma leaves marks that aren't always visible. Whether you've experienced a single traumatic event or complex, ongoing trauma, the effects can show up as hypervigilance, flashbacks, emotional numbness, nightmares, and difficulty trusting. PTSD is not a sign of weakness, it's your nervous system responding to experiences that overwhelmed it.
Dr. Amanda Lefkowitz holds a Master's degree in Trauma, Crisis, and Stress from Tel Aviv University. This isn't a side interest, it's foundational to how she practices.
Common Symptoms
- Flashbacks or intrusive memories of traumatic events
- Nightmares and sleep disturbance
- Hypervigilance, always on alert
- Avoidance of reminders, places, or people
- Emotional numbness or detachment
- Difficulty concentrating
- Irritability or angry outbursts
How We Treat It
Medication can play a crucial role in managing PTSD symptoms, reducing the intensity of flashbacks, improving sleep, and lowering the baseline level of anxiety so that therapy can do its work. We coordinate closely with your trauma therapist to make sure medication supports your therapeutic goals rather than working at cross-purposes.
